Forced prostitution is a violent offence to physical and sexual independence.
Forced prostitution is a crime. It violates the human right of emotional and physical integrity.
Almost all victims of human trafficking and forced prostitution are women of foreign nationality.
Until only a few years ago, the majority of women came from Middle and Eastern Europe (in particular Russia, the Ukraine, Belarus etc.) and were illegally involved in prostitution. With the admittance of more Eastern European states in the European Union, this situation has now changed. The women working in this sector are now legal residents with working permits, coming from the new EU countries. Instead of women from Russia, a greater number of women are now coming from Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, etc.. Although the women may now be legally in Germany they can still be victims of human trafficking, duress and exploitation.
